Mud texture using Mr Surfacer 500

14 June 2007 -
Light guard replaced using DIY brass sheet

Primed and ready for painting

15 June 2007 -
Base coat olive drab done

Postshaded

16 June 2007 -
Major update:
Details painted.
Glossed, decalled, washed.
Flatted. Begun weathering.

Decals were wonderfully thin, reacted nicely to Mr Mark Softer; conformed to curves and surface texture.

Spare tracks painted and ‘rusted’

Exhaust ‘rusted’, tow cable ‘rusted’ and ‘metallized’.

17 June 2007 -
Chipping. 2-hour session.

18 June 2007 -
Turret machine gun done, antenna from stretched sprue.

Lower areas extensively dusted with pastel chalks. Then the highest points of the tracks are ‘metallized’ using a pencil.

Area around the fuel port on the rear deck dirtied up with oil spill, using acrylic paint.

Final tweaks:
- New straighter antenna.
- Oil paint to give colour variations on top surfaces.
- Streaks on side skirts.
Superb build. What are you using for the mud? Thinned putty? Which color did you use to paint it?

Thanks xplan303ex,
As I wrote, I used Mr Surfacer to make the mud texture. This is similar to thinned Tamiya putty.
Tamiya acrylics were used (Flat earth).

Outstanding quality! Great pics too, nice closeups. They really capture the work you put into this. Show me more!
